I didn’t plan on making a second Aussie Hero Quilt so soon after the first, but when You receive an email each week, with a list soo long of requests from our service men and women, it’s hard to say no! So a few weeks ago, I saw a request from a service woman, with the only requirements being that it was “blue, grey & cream”. I could that easy peasy! As soon as I got the go ahead, I raided my stash for those three colours, and chose one of the Live. Love. Sew. patterns Keera had gifted me, and got started pretty much straight away!
The Quatro quilt pattern is for a larger layout than this, but the quilt block size was perfect for the required size here. The blocks came together super quick, and the colour palette works so beautifully!
I chose so many of my favourite prints in the stash, I’m a sucker for navy blues, and of course – my favourite background of grey shot cotton!
I used the squiggly “serpentine” stitch on my Bernina for the quilting, and made the rows about two inches apart. The thread is a variegated Aurifil #4670 – which is kind of like a mossy green and grey mix. It looks beautiful close up, but the photography did not work at all to show its best, so you’ll have to believe me 😉
This baby has been labelled and wrapped up, and will be sent off through the post tomorrow. I really, really hope she loves it! You can find all the information for Aussie Hero Quilts HERE.
