2015 – In A Nutshell

A fabulous hashtag took over Instagram this week – #bestnine2015 – which chooses nine photos on your IG account with the most “likes”.  I jumped on the band wagon, and was reminded of some wonderful projects made, and received, this year…. Granted – A few of these projects are not mine!  The delightful pink mini was made for me by Sheila, Chelsea made her own quilt, the #sewingforsydney quilt top and that stunning AMH quilt mid-left is by Laurelle!  But sharing is caring … Continue Reading »

#aussieauriflclub – January’s “Summer Rain” is here!

The lovely Keera from Live. Love. Sew. is our guest blogger for January’s #aussieaurifilclub bundle!  I’ve gotten to know Keera through my #aussiecharmswaps, and she’s just a gorgeous human being!  Keera has chosen four beautiful colours for January, which are quite rich and decadent! There’s a stunning light blue, rusty red, shiny olive green and the most perfect of navy blues. Kerri chose to receive her set in 12wt, and I can’t wait to see how she uses them!  12wt Aurifil is beautiful … Continue Reading »

Sunday Stash – Merry Christmas to Me!

After many months of self-control, I recently made a couple of purchases I really didn’t “need”, but certainly WANTED!  The first of which arrived this past week….. Let me introduce you to Lizzy House’s “The Lovely Hunt”.  I’d admired the colour palette of this range for quite some time, so when I saw it on Massdrop, I sort of, kind of, jumped on it! I mean, look at those colours!  I have absolutely no idea what will be done with them, but I’m … Continue Reading »

1930’s Farmer’s Wife Sew Along – Month 3!

Three months.  26 blocks.  And now – a rest!  To be perfectly honest – I’m super excited that I’ve kept up!  Each time I pull out a pattern to make, I find myself umming and ahhing over which fabrics to use, and I can say I am yet to be disappointed with a block!  I’m using colours I wouldn’t normally, and pairing them together in some interesting combinations!  Here are my blocks from Month Three…. These apples had been screaming out to be … Continue Reading »

A Graduation Quilt

Almost one year ago, on a cool New Year’s Eve up on the Murray, my kids were wrapped up in their own quilts and the school principal just happened to be there!  I was asked if I would be interested in making the graduation quilt for 2015?  I actually didn’t even think about it, just said “sure” and left it at that.  Fast forward a couple of months, and I had discussed the plan with teaching staff and waited until the third term … Continue Reading »

Indigenous Fire Star Mini

Remember these? My little purchase of Aboriginal prints, wayyyyyy back in August, from my LQS has been used and abused!  And after deciding on THIS paper pieced pattern by Sew What Sherlock, my stepping outside my comfort zone paid off….. Isn’t she beautiful?  When the Melbourne MQG was contacted by the Edinburgh MQG in Scotland, to see if we wanted to do a swap, I popped my hand up immediately!  My swap partner (Sheila) and I started an email conversation about what we … Continue Reading »

Bag Lady

After my successful start to Christmas sewing, with my first teacher’s gift HERE, I moved right along to the next.  But was a bit stumped on what to make!  I quizzed my friend, and she suggested a satchel.  Of course she did – cos she doesn’t sew! lol.  Anyway, it WAS a great idea, so I scoured the web for a suitable pattern, and then decided on the Swoon Dorian.  If I’m honest, I’ll tell you the photos of the finished products on … Continue Reading »

The 1930’s Farmer’s Wife Sew Along – MONTH TWO!

Wow!  Another month done!  And what a whopper it was!  In total, 11 blocks were allocated, and the variety in the blocks is just fabulous!  Here’s my roll call….. Deer Addie…. I love a good pop of yellow! Pandas!!!  Nuff said…. I’m totally digging green and pink together….especially this shade of green I would normally steer clear of! I went off the beaten track for Margaret and Milly, and played with my Marti Michel templates!  Whilst I was pretty happy with them…… And … Continue Reading »

T.G.I.F.F. – First Finish of the Season!!

Christmas is coming.  I’m slowly coming to terms with that.  But am not dealing with the fact I have not, up until yesterday, started making teacher’s gifts!  Because for some crazy reason, I started making them gifts a few years ago, and sort of feel like I’ve set myself a bloody standard going forward!  Anyway, yesterday.  I bought myself a geometric cat pattern from Quiet Play, and got cracking.  Today, it’s finished.  May I present to you – the beginning of my Christmas … Continue Reading »
