Purple Reign – The Quilt Top

If you’ve been following me over on Instagram, you would know I started a pixel quilt at the beginning of May.  I’ve mentioned before, the impact Prince and his music has had on me, so two weeks after his passing, I’d been in touch with Andi from YouPatch, and threw a couple of my favourite Prince photos her way.  A VERY short time later, she’d drawn up a pattern for me, and I ordered my fabrics immediately!  Over the past six weeks, I’ve … Continue Reading »

Oh Baby Baby

To be perfectly honest, I don’t even know who I am anymore??  It seems that since I’ve taken the pressure off myself to produce work for the masses, inspiration has returned along with my sewjo!  So much so, I have another finish to show you… Last week, friends of ours announced the arrival of their first child – a baby boy, Blake.  I still get excited about the births of babies, and after the new Mummy – Sarah – had commented that she … Continue Reading »

Koi Crossing

The best thing – actually, possibly the only thing – about having a bunch of WIPs in your sewing room, is when you need a quilt to gift, and don’t have heaps of time to start from scratch.  A couple of weeks ago, I pulled my Koi Crossing top out of my pile and gave it basting treatment.  It then sat on the back of the lounge for a couple weeks longer, before I quilted and bound it last week! This was one … Continue Reading »

The Fast & Furious Baby Quilt

When you deliver two quilts to a friend/customer and tell her you bought some gorgeous “boy” kind of fabrics in Tassie, and she says “Oh good!  I have a new nephew as of last night!”, you promptly get to work on requested baby quilt.  I had already put thought in to the kind of design I wanted to  use these specific fabrics in, so I got to work straight away! I started with the measurements I found for a “Plus quilt” HERE, then worked … Continue Reading »

June #aussieaurifilclub – Purple Reign

If you follow me on social media, you would know I was heartbroken by the recent passing of Prince.  His songs are like a soundtrack to my youth, and I have been a massive fan of his since I first overheard his music being played by my older sister and her best friend on their tape deck, way back in the 80’s!  For decades, I have had his music on my walkman, discman, and now my iPod, and have walked, run and danced … Continue Reading »

Sunday Stash – I’m Not Dead

Oh hi there!  Remember Me?  I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t! Firstly – apologies for my apparent disappearing act.  It’s a really long and (mostly) boring story, that I will get the gumption to write a post about one day.  But basically, I’ve been super busy. Secondly – Part of that busy period has been spent in Tasmania!  I took my Mum away for a week of day tripping around our Apple Isle, to celebrate her 70th birthday.  I’ve been there twice … Continue Reading »

On A Wild Goose Chase!

A little while back, my lovely friend Keera asked if I would be interested in making one of her new quilt patterns to help her out?  I very happily said YES and pencilled it in to my diary.  In between pencilling and the impending date, I had a panic and thought “there’s no way I’m going to get this done”!!!!  I contemplated pulling out and letting Keera down, but I just couldn’t do it – so I committed to myself that I would … Continue Reading »

Aussie Hero Quilt #2 – Blue, Grey & Cream – What A Dream!

I didn’t plan on making a second Aussie Hero Quilt so soon after the first, but when You receive an email each week, with a list soo long of requests from our service men and women, it’s hard to say no!  So a few weeks ago, I saw a request from a service woman, with the only requirements being that it was “blue, grey & cream”.  I could that easy peasy!  As soon as I got the go ahead, I raided my stash … Continue Reading »

Modern HST Sampler QAL

If you pop on over to Blossom Heart Quilts today, you’ll find the block I have designed for the Modern HST Sampler QAL! Formation is a super simple block, aptly named as it reminds of the formation of a flock of birds!  Or Beyonce.  You choose! I cracked open my F8 bundle of Carolyn Friedlander’s Carkai range for this little baby, and then convinced myself I had enough time to fit in another QAL for 2016….. so here are the other blocks in … Continue Reading »

Tula Grande

It’s taken a little time to get this baby finished, but she was a grande old dame, who deserved some grand treatment!  There was never any doubt that someone else had to quilt her, because her stature was a little more than mine could handle!  So, a week ago, I picked her up and endeavoured to get her finished.  And here she is…….in all her glory…… Isn’t she lovely?  Photographing her proved a little difficult also, but I took the small window of … Continue Reading »
