Steam Punkin’ – Finito!

Many, many months ago,  I booked in to an “open” class with Jen Kingwell.  Angie from Gnome Angel was going, so I decided to tag along.  I finally bit the bullet and bought Jen’s Steam Punk quilt pattern, in the hope she could teach me how to do some hand sewing.  It was such a wonderful class, and Jen not only taught me how to do a few different hand sewing techniques, she also shared lots of other quilty advice, and we just … Continue Reading »

Snapshots – Cotton + Steel Charm-along Quilt!

The Cotton + Steel charm-along is half way through now, and I’m pleased to say I have a finish!  May I introduce to you – Snapshots! When it came to using these delicious prints, I truly did  not want to chop them up, because there are just so many fun characters and elements to a lot of them – I mean, who wants half a horse on their quilt?  Not me! I ordered the divine grey Sprinkle print – by C+S – during … Continue Reading »

TGIFF – Splice

This reveal has been a long time coming!  My Splice quilt has been finished for a few weeks now, but given Melbourne’s hideous weather and the fact I didn’t want to photograph it when Cadyn was home – it took until yesterday to get it out and shot!  We had a divine sunny day, probably a little too sunny for photography, but I ran out in the front yard, pegged it to the neighbour’s fence, and got it done…. This fabulous project began … Continue Reading »

TGIFF – A Finish is A Finish!

Ever have those weeks when you just feel like you’re never going to sit down and do something you actually WANT to do?  Yup.  I’ve just finished one of those!  All I wanted to do was sew today, but apparently children needing to get to school, groceries needing to be done, vacuuming, washing and website fixing – they all had to be done first!  But once they were sorted, I got to it….. I bound Cadyn’s Improv quilt, but could only manage this … Continue Reading »

Friends – A Tale Of Two Cushions

If you’ve been reading along this past twelve months, you’d know that I’ve been on the 40th birthday bandwagon, and every BFF gets a quilt!  I feel like Oprah at times – YOU get a quilt! YOU get a quilt…..and YOU GET A QUILT!!!!  Well, I’m nearly at the end of said bandwagon.  For now.  But the last of my BFF’s has her 40th birthday tomorrow.  And because she got a quilt last year – just because – she’s getting something different. … Continue Reading »

Kiss-Cross Quilt – Heather Bailey Charm-Along

Hosting a number of designer #aussiecharmswap rounds per year means I also get to host Charm-alongs!  Which inevitably ends with me wracking my brain for new ideas to use 5″ squares.  When the Heather Bailey swap had ended, my brain started processing the colours, and I tried to think of something a little different.  It was then I had the “bright” idea to chop up each 5″ square, insert some grey shot cotton, and sew them all back together again – giving me … Continue Reading »

Sew Cute Tuesday – Rainy Days

Sometimes, you see a creation somewhere on social media, and you know you just have to have it!  This happened last week when I was cruising through my Facebook quilting group and I came across a little mini quilt made by one of the members.  I loved it immediately.  Then went to bed.  The next day, another member had whipped one up and I went straight to Craftsy and bought the pattern…. And the following day, made it!  Isn’t she gorgeous?  The pattern … Continue Reading »

New Terrain – A 2014 Finish!

It’s not often I take more than a month or so to get a quilt done – start to finish.  But last year, I decided to join in the Aurifil Designer of The Month quilt along.  Block of the month activities are a great way to sharpen up your skills, and/or learn new techniques.  And I can tell you, some of these blocks tested my patience and my skills!  I finished the last of the 12 blocks earlier this year, but they have … Continue Reading »

Anna Maria Horner Mini Quilt Swap

I know this post may seem a little “Groundhog Day-ish”, given last Friday I was here revealing a mini quilt!  Today is another mini quilt finish, and another mini quilt that will be going to live with someone else, and another mini quilt made using AMH!  Hmmmm.  I see a pattern here! When the call went out on IG a couple of months ago for participants to take part in an AMH Mini swap, I didn’t think too hard before jumping in.  I … Continue Reading »

T.G.I.F.F. – A Mini

I had the joy of spending last Saturday with some fabulous crafters here in Melbourne. It’s the second time I’ve joined them all at GJ’s in Brunswick, and we all traipse in there with a million projects, in the hope that we just get somewhere with one of them!  In my case, I took a quilt I needed to get quilted, and then spent the first two hours unpicking after beginning twice, and hating what I was doing!  So…..after putting said quilt aside, … Continue Reading »
