On A Wild Goose Chase!

A little while back, my lovely friend Keera asked if I would be interested in making one of her new quilt patterns to help her out?  I very happily said YES and pencilled it in to my diary.  In between pencilling and the impending date, I had a panic and thought “there’s no way I’m going to get this done”!!!!  I contemplated pulling out and letting Keera down, but I just couldn’t do it – so I committed to myself that I would make my own smaller version of her beautiful “Wild Goose Chase” pattern!  I got cracking, and a few days later, had this beauty to show…..

I am SOOOOO in love with this little quilt!  At 42″ square, it’s what I would class as a Lap Quilt OR the perfect baby/toddler quilt!  The pattern gives you instructions to make a 69″ x 69″ quilt, set on point.  My smaller quilt is made using nine blocks – set square – with a row or HST’s surrounding the blocks as a border.  What I love about this most is how you can spot different patterns amongst the pattern.  There are two giant stars amongst the layout….

I used one of my most coveted collections of fabric – Indelible by Katarina Roccella – and paired it with a charcoal shot cotton from Spotlight.  The texture of the Art Gallery prints and shot cotton is amazing.  Add in the jade green Aurifil and it’s a textural explosion!!!

I chose nine Fat Eighths of prints, and the reason behind my border of HST’s is because I still cut out the required amount of squares the pattern called for – for the large quilt!!!  It all worked out well in the end!

All in all, I really loved this pattern, and being so quick and easy to put together made me a very happy girl!  This is the second pattern of Keera’s I’ve made recently, so I think it’s safe to say I can vouch for their fabulousness!  You can find the Wild Goose Chase pattern HERE, and whilst you’re at it, check out ALL the Live.Love.Sew. patterns HERE.

And if you REALLY love this quilt – You can find it for sale HERE!!  Perfect unisex quilt 🙂

Big thanks to Keera for the pattern – well done Girlfriend!

    This is beautiful!

I have a question – how do you get on with that Spotlight shot cotton? I bought loads of it when it was on sale, but every time I use it I end up cursing. It’s just so difficult to sew with, and frays like crazy! I try to use it for larger things, like cushion backs (but it still drives me crazy even then). How do you manage with smaller pieces like this? I’d warmly welcome any tips you may have!
