The Ring Bearer’s Cushion

Today I began and finished the first project for 2014.  It was something I had on my to-do list for quite some time, and given the date it is required for is only a matter of weeks away, I needed to get it ticked off!  Success…. My youngest brother-in-law and his gorgeous fiance are to be married in February, and our three youngest children will be in the bridal party.  Cadyn is the ring bearer, and needs a ring cushion.  So, naturally, I … Continue Reading »

Scrappy Refractatorium Finish!

The sneak peek I shared with you all on Wednesday had lots of you waiting for the big reveal!  I was waiting too, and as soon as I returned from work Thursday morning, I cut the binding and got to work! So, without further ado, here she is………  The Scrappy Refractatorium…….   I am so utterly in love with this, I can’t even describe it!  So much colour.  So much to look at.  My ten year old daughter says it looks like an … Continue Reading »

In Real Life

Yesterday was a big day for me.  I met quilters.  In real life.  Not through a computer screen.  True! Some time last year, my dear friend Gemma directed me to a Facebook group called “Quilt Club Australia” aka QCA.  It has been through this group that I have had possibly 100’s of my quilting questions answered.  Where I have been able to show others interested obsessed with quilting, my progress – no matter how shaky, how hilarious or how triumphant my progress may … Continue Reading »

Sunday Stash – In Pictures

I shared with you last week how I was spending some of my tax return.  Well, the UPS and postman both came to the party during the past week, and my stash got a ridiculous boost in numbers.  I’m now on a fabric fast.  For a long short time anyway…. The Intrepid Thread never fails to excite me!  Some Sarah Jane deliciousness from I finally bought some Ghastlies after months of procrastinating. Nordika……yum yum. Waterfront park……sigh. Interesting colour combo for a cot … Continue Reading »

The BIG Swoon Reveal!

The day has finally come – I can share my biggest finish with you all!  That’s right – my Swoon is done and dusted!  I managed to bind it on the weekend, and Saturday night, got my little minions to work, using muscles they never thought they had.  This baby is HEAVY!  I could have waited for delightful sunshine and dry skies – but you wouldn’t have seen photos of it for about a month – Melbourne’s Winter is in full force at … Continue Reading »

50,000 – Not That I’m Counting!

It’s been a super cold, wet and Winter’s day here in Melbourne.  But that little number up there just put a smile on my dial.  I’m not much of a statistics girl, in fact, I don’t really like numbers – BUT – I just noticed that this little blog of mine has now officially gone over 50,000 page views! I started tapping away on my keyboard back in 2009, not really having any real vision or purpose to my blog.  Or page views……hahahaha.  … Continue Reading »

T.G.I.F.F. – The One Where My Swoon Gets Sent Packing…..

Remember this photo from Wednesday? Well, it now has a beautiful pieced backing to go with it….. When I bought the yardage for this backing – from The Intrepid Thread – I was not really sold on the print.  I mean, there are sooooo many divine prints in the Notting Hill range, but all of my first choices (yes, you can have more than one first choice!) were too low in stock and would not be able to accommodate this 90″ beauty!  So … Continue Reading »

A Social Media Love Affair

I’ve been sitting on this post for a few days.  Well, figuratively speaking that is!  You see, a few days ago, I posted on Facebook –  “How does one deactivate a Facebook account please?” I could almost hear the sniggers from my office!  “Are you leaving FB?”  “Melissa leaving Facebook – hahahahahhahaha”.  It did make me laugh!  I replied they should know me well enough to know that would never happen! I was, in fact, asking the question so I could deactivate my … Continue Reading »

Sew Cute Tuesday Debut! Bloom Bloom Finished!

Clearly I am an impatient quilter.  I have shown that trait on many a project!  So of course I can’t wait until my normal Finished Friday post to show you my latest finish – last night’s binding effort nearly tipped me over the edge with excitement! Those who have been following along with me would know that I have been partaking in my first ever quilt along these last few weeks – the Bloom Bloom Pow, by Freshly Pieced.  It has been one … Continue Reading »

Friday Fun Day Giveaway!

A couple of years ago, I made the decision to start making beautiful kid’s clothes to sell.  I researched for what seemed like forever to find the most unique and delicious fabrics.  In the end, I chose Valori Well’s Wrenly range.  And I made my first fabric order with Julie from The Intrepid Thread.  Since then, I have ordered wayyyy more yards of fabric than I care to tally.  And Julie has always been extremely helpful and quick to reply to my queries. … Continue Reading »
