Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sew Along – Month Four!

I’m a little late on finishing my fourth month’s blocks!  So here’s a quick review of my eight blocks…. Joy – I love everything about this block….. The mustard, the floral and the ten pin bowling print! Mrs Brown – This is probably the softest palette amongst my blocks so far, but I adore it! Mrs Morgan – Packs a punch!  Love love love the bright flowers amongst the purple and green (should never be seen??  Who made that rule?!?!?!). Grandmother – Eeeek, … Continue Reading »

WIP Wednesday – Self Audit

In the spirit of keeping track of my projects, I’m auditing myself!  I’m starting 2016 with a WIP List, and am going to use my handy dandy Quilter’s Planner to keep me in line…. If you want one for yourself, I believe you can still grab one HERE.  But be quick! I’m going to start with my most recently added WIP’s….. I finished my Pavement Puddles quilt top, using Carolyn Friedlander’s Doe range with some Kaffe Fassett shot cotton.  This was meant to … Continue Reading »

W.I.P. Wednesday – More. New. Projects. #oops

Yep.  Six weeks until Christmas, and I’m starting new projects.  Slap me….. My beloved jelly roll of Doe by Carolyn Friedlander has been sliced and diced.  In to wayyyyyyyy too many triangles for my liking.  But I’m consoling myself with the realisation that it will look realllllllllly good…… Look familiar?  I’m using my own Pavement Puddles pattern!  Watch this space…. And the other project I felt the need to begin this week involves AMH and shot cotton.  Two of my favourite things.  If … Continue Reading »

WIP Wednesday – An Almost Finish & New Beginning.

I am incredibly pleased to say that I finished putting together my Steam Punk quilt top a couple of weeks ago!  And in the midst of all the excitement, forget to tell you all! This has been one almighty labour of love.  I don’t think I’ve ever taken so much time to put blocks together, and the fact that I hand sewed the appliqué centres on – well, that did take a little extra time!  I’m so in love with how it has … Continue Reading »

W.I.P. Wednesday – Multiple Project Disorder

This week’s WIP Wednesday is brought to you by my newly diagnosed “Multiple Project Disorder”. (Feel free to take my button down below and add it to your repertoire) I’m self-diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure Google would have a definition…… My definition is:  Thinking about the projects you have worked on in the past week, and once you start pulling them out, wondering how you have managed to do it?  Anyway, here is what I have worked on this past week….. My … Continue Reading »

W.I.P. Wednesday – Checking In…

Back at the beginning of June, I took stock of my works in progress.  So I thought I’d just check in and see where I’m at!  Unfortunately, not as far as I’d like to be….. The only progress I’ve made on this lovely pile of quilt tops is ONE from eight!  I’ve ALMOST finished Cadyn’s improv quilt – second from bottom.  I quilted it on Monday, and it will be bound next week!  Given it has to be ready for his birthday in … Continue Reading »

W.I.P. Wednesday – Charm Along Progress

I have had a few days free this week, and had all these grand plans for getting two quilt tops finished!  But well laid plans and all…….  One quilt top is well on its way, even if I did have to unpick a whole row and re-jig my layout a bit. This is my Heather Bailey Charm Along quilt! I’m calling it “Kiss-Cross”.  It started with a really simple thought – to turn each charm in to a kiss or a cross.  But … Continue Reading »

Think Back Thursday – Cos WIP Wednesday has passed….

This week has been nothing short of chaotic!  My husband started his new job on Monday (Hoorah!!!), which meant I had to go back to doing mundane tasks like grocery shopping.  I’ve also had to be more organised and have dinner cooked on the days I’ve been working, and have those kids super organised to fend for themselves again!  Life is getting back to its normal pace it seems…. So I really haven’t had much time to sew!  This is what I have … Continue Reading »

W.I.P. Wednesday – Taking Stock

Sometimes, when things feel a little out of control, it helps me to take stock.  Figure out what I’ve got going on, what I haven’t thought about for a long time, and what I could be doing rather than starting a new project.  Today was one of those days.  I pulled out all of my works in progress, and found a couple quite a few I had forgotten about! From top to bottom:  1. Fat Quarter Shop BOM from 2014.  All still blocks, but … Continue Reading »

Back to the Sewing Machine!

It seems I’ve had some sort of sewing hiatus.  There are a multitude of reasons why, however, I shall not bore you all, except to say – I returned to my sewing machine this week!  Which is a very good thing, because I have a to-do list the length of a limb! I started off with this fabulous bee block for Kim!  I joined my Melbourne MQG’s “Artistic Licence” bee this year, and this month is Kim’s turn to give the orders.  She … Continue Reading »
