I don’t write many “personal” posts these days, but today – I turn FORTY! And after spending hours over the past few weeks, trawling through hundreds of photographs to make a photo book for my party, I have been even more emotional than I usually am. And that’s saying something!
You see, I’ve had a pretty damn good life – so far. In fact, on Monday, whilst sitting at the footy with my husband and four kids, I leant over and told Andrew that I was so very happy with my family.
We have made a great life for ourselves, and have both come from great families. We know what we want for our kids, and we are a great team!
But life isn’t always this rosey! I’ve had plenty of interesting obstacles to tackle in my forty years….
But have always somehow managed to get through them.
The greatest gift I have been given (other than my immediate family, husband and children) are my friends. And I just want to use this very public forum to thank them. Each and every friend who has come in to my life, has helped me get to this day. And there are some extra special friends I want to do a shout out to. For without them –
I couldn’t have gotten through my childhood.
Or my adulthood!
They’ve supported me through my parent’s divorce, a change of states, my parents living overseas. They’ve held my hand through my own divorce and the fallout that came with it. And they cheered me on when I met the love of my life…..
I’ve been blessed to have all of you in my life, and could not even begin to imagine how mundane it would be without you! So, from the bottom of my heart – THANK YOU – Suzie, Tarassa, Holly – for 34 years – most of them spent living states apart. THANK YOU – Karen, Cynthia and Sam – for seeing me through my teens and beyond. THANK YOU – Jodie, Bec and Hayley – for accepting me in to your friendship group in my mid 20’s, and embracing your mate’s new divorced single mother girlfriend!
AND last but most certainly not least – THANK YOU to my darling husband, Andrew. You are the most fabulous human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I still count my lucky stars for the dodgy internet dating site you found me on!
If the next forty years of my life are even remotely like the first – then I can’t wait to get started!
Happy Birthday to Me!
Okay……back to the regular schedule tomorrow! No more sappy posts! 🙂
