If you’ve been following me over on Instagram, you would know I started a pixel quilt at the beginning of May. I’ve mentioned before, the impact Prince and his music has had on me, so two weeks after his passing, I’d been in touch with Andi from YouPatch, and threw a couple of my favourite Prince photos her way. A VERY short time later, she’d drawn up a pattern for me, and I ordered my fabrics immediately! Over the past six weeks, I’ve shown snippets and teases of my quilt top, but on Thursday, I was thrilled to finish it…..
I am SO in love with this quilt. In my eyes – it is SPECTACULAR! At 64″ square, it may be a little too big to hang on the wall I’d envisioned it on, but I will be more than happy to snuggle up with him on my lounge in any case 😉
I popped outside in the short burst of sunshine we had today, and had my husband hold him up. And as always, with pixel quilts, this quilt gives you all the feels when looking at it from afar.
So, as much as I don’t really want you to see my neighbour’s backyard, my driveway, car and patchwork home – I wanted to show you how amazing pixel quilts look from further away!
Isn’t he beautiful? When I first envisioned the quilt top, I was going to use a scrappy purple background, but when in Tassie, I found this amazing purple indigenous print at Frangipani Fabrics (You can find it HERE), and it really could not have worked any better! Agreed? The rest of the quilt is made with a variety of Kona greys and black. The beauty of the YouPatch pattern is that it gives you the Kona colours required as well as the quantities. Perfect.
Anyway. Now I have to find someone to quilt it for me! Watch this space!
Don’t hold it against me, but I was never a big Prince fan, but I can still appreciate this amazing quilt! It IS spectacular!
I won’t hold that against you 😉 Thanks!
The quilt looks amazing. What a great idea.
Thanks Lynn 🙂

you are amazing
Amazing. I had wondered what you were up to. Perfection!
Before I scrolled down the page I actually squinted my eyes and got the same effect as the distant photo you took. Great looking quilt. You did a fantastic job. Such a shame that he is gone.
Is the pattern for sale? I’d love to purchase and attempt for my dear friend who is a huge fan.
Unfortunately it is not for sale. You can go to the link on the post for pixel quilts and put any photo in to their system to have a quilt pattern made 🙂
