Snapshots – Cotton + Steel Charm-along Quilt!

The Cotton + Steel charm-along is half way through now, and I’m pleased to say I have a finish!  May I introduce to you – Snapshots!

When it came to using these delicious prints, I truly did  not want to chop them up, because there are just so many fun characters and elements to a lot of them – I mean, who wants half a horse on their quilt?  Not me!

I ordered the divine grey Sprinkle print – by C+S – during the charm swap, as I knew it would work perfectly, and oh yes it did!  If I could have yardage of all the Sprinkle prints, I most certainly would.

The charms are all quite simply set in sashing, but did need a little math to ensure the charms were centred above the others.  I’m no mathematician but did manage a win there!  I stuck to straight line quilting, about two inches apart, and love its simplicity.  I used one of my favourite variegated Aurifil colours – #4060 – which is a green/grey.

And the backing.  Sigh.  I’ve been holding on to this wide back Melody Miller for a year, since I brought it back from Tokyo.  It is sheer perfection for this quilt, and I just adore it. I ALMOST got it centred, but hey – near enough is good enough in this case!

The backing is a little heavier than quilting cotton, and gives it quite a luxurious finish.  The binding is another C+S print in aqua, and I think frames it all beautifully.

All in all – a winner!  It’s a great simple kind of quilt, and will make someone very happy!  I have started writing up a tutorial/pattern for you all, so watch this space!  It will be a free download in the online store.
